In 2017 when President Akufo Addo took over as President, he vowed that he was going to put his Presidency on the line in the fight against galamsey.
Interestingly, the situation only became worse after that pledge with top government officials all into the illegal act.
Notably the missing over 500 excavators and other earthmoving machines sent the whole country into doubt about the sincerity of President Akufo Addo’s fight against Galamsey.
Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng the Minister of Environment was eventually sacked for what the government at the time said was his involvement in issues of Galamsey in 2020.
Fast forward to 2021, the Chief of Staff wrote officially to Professor Frimpong Boateng to write an official report of activities in his ministry when he was in office.
The 36-page report presented to President Akufo Addo and the Chief of Staff Frema Opare has been intercepted by Loud Silence Media and we dare to say the content and narrative of Professor Boateng is explosive.
He gave a tall list of government officials deeply involved in Galamsey.
Gabby Otchere Darko, a direct relative of Akufo Addo was of course featured in this list.
Kate Gyamfua the Women Organizer of the NPP was also mentioned in the report.
Lord Commey, the director of Operations at the Presidency was mentioned by Professor Frimpong Boateng as a key actor of Government appointees involved in Galamsey.
