Celebrated investigative journalist has thrown light on what can only be described as daylight robbery against Ghana’s security personnel on peacekeeping mission.
According to Kevin, Ghanaian men in uniform In Somalia are not happy with how government of Ghana is treating them.
This according to the security personnel is bringing tension and uneasiness among them.
The real issue is that, before these men left Ghana to make sure peace is brought back to Somalia, Government of Ghana promised them 35 dollars daily allowance plus additional allowance for WiFi since they are far away from home.
Things rather took a dramatic turn when Ghanaian Troops got to Somalia.
Instead of the 35 dollars the Akufo Addo led administration promised them, Government is rather paying them 29 dollars without the WiFi allowance.
No explanation has been given as to what led to the reduction of the money.
This single action by Government of Ghana led by President Akufo Addo is killing the morale of these security men and women.
Unlike Ghana, other African countries are paying their men and women on peacekeeping in Somalia 45 dollars with additional money for their WiFi so they can stay connected to their families and the rest of the world as they risk their lives to bring peace in the East African Country.
The defense and interior ministry have all refused to react to this disturbing issue.
President Akufo Addo Who is the commander-in-Chief of the Ghana armed forces has also gone mute on the matter.
Their silence is rather creating tension in the Ghana armed forces and Police Service especially with those on peacekeeping missions.
Ghanaian troops on the mission has given government an ultimatum to start paying them what was promised or the worse may happen.
Instances like these can trigger a lot of things but so far the Government seems not to care.
