Kwame Farkye takes over Giovani’s 3FM Drive
For many, the name Kwame Farkye was very synonymous with late after radio. He basically ruled Drive Time radio in the capital in the greater part of the 2000s.
His Drive Time show on Atlantis Radio was the most listened to show on the late afternoon belt in Accra. It was simply the show that no one missed – just like the 3FM Drive.
After a long hiatus from radio, the talented presenter, who now spends most of his time managing singer Adina, brought back nostalgic memories when he took over Giovani Caleb’s job as the host of the 3FM Drive on 3FM on the Easter Monday – Easter Monday Lockdown Edition.
It was like he never left radio. He was still evergreen. Kwame Farkye, also called Mr Swift, took over the show as if it was his day time job.
From 3pm, singing in with his well-known signature song ‘GirlsDrinkMusicSex’ from The Breakmakers (Note: That song was specially recorded for Kwame Farkye) and with his iconic voice, he welcomed Accra to the drive of a lifetime.
Backed by DJ Jaydee, Mr Swift treated listeners to the best of music, conversations, tips, and phone-ins. He also did not miss the opportunity to poke fun at the show’s main host, Giovani Caleb.
After three hours of serving listeners with the best radio experience, Kwame Farkye admitted that “it’s been a great experience sitting in for Giovani…it’s a hot seat.”
Mr Swift was part of an impressive list of personalities who took over affairs of 3FM on topsy-turvy Easter Monday Lockdown Edition.
The day kicked off on Sunrise Morning Show with Kafui Dey, famous for hosting the popular television game show, ‘Who Wants to Be Rich’ .
Kafui Dey was also not a new customer to morning radio. This reflected in his hosting of Sunrise.
From 6 am to 10 am, he served Ghanaians with a refreshing blend of news, information, interviews, and calls on the morning show.
The bubbly Chrystal – the energy goddess – took over Mariam’s Urban Blend show.
During the about three hours of the show, the pretty presenter served listeners with a rich combination of good music, talk, tips, and interviews with celebrities like Camidoh and DarkoVibes.
Rapper Edem at 1pm took over with the Afternoon Jam. For two hours, Edem made a clear statement that he deserves a job at 3FM.
Backed by his DJ, Edem dished out some of the biggest songs in the country currently.
He also took listeners on a memory lane. He went back to the Genesis of Edem (Ayigbe Edem) playing some of his old songs and the stories behind them. It was a very informative and fun journey.
The Easter Monday Lockdown Edition on 3FM ended with the Evening Jam with DJ Enkay from 7pm to 10pm. The talented DJ brought the party to the homes of listeners dishing out back to back hit songs.
