Former Broadcaster Efia Odo has added her voice to the increasing level of insecurity in Ghana under the watch of Akufo Addo.
In her post on Twitter, Miss Odo who have been instrumental in the fix the country movement questioned how police officers mandated to protect Ghanaians are not protected themselves.
Yesterday 14th June 2021 around 11am local time in Ghana, story broke that armed robbers had attacked a bullion van in broad daylight killing Constable Emmanuel Osei who was on escorting duty with the bullion van and a hawker who was closer to the scene of attack.
The videos of the aftermath of the attack are gruesome. These has ignited talks about how porous Ghana’s security architecture has become under James Oppong Boanuh who serves as the Inspector General of Police.
This attack is not the first of its kind even in this year, there have been multiple attacks in bullion vans and stationed police officers across the country.
In a release last night, the IGP said they would have no choice than to withdraw their services to banks if they fail to provide armored vehicles for the bulk transportation of cash.

Efia Odo in her tweet went further to say, the police service should understand “Fix the Country” is equally about them
Our priorities are in all the wrong places. How can those who are supposed to protect us are not even protected themselves.

Ghana police, please understand that #fixthecountry is about you too. This isn’t politics, this is about the livelihood of every Ghanaian. #FixTheCountry
Conveners of fix the country are battling it out in court with the Police service over demonstrations.
An earlier ruling by the high court which restrict any form of demonstrations was quashed by the Supreme Court but the police are back in court to frustrate the scheduled demonstrations.
Efia Odo said fixing the country will mean that police will be provided with the right garment to wear and work with.
