Even after the Brong Ahafo got divided into 3 other new regions namely Ahafo, Bono, and Bono East regions, the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections have yet again proven that the region has got a very unpredictable voting pattern which ought to be taken seriously going into 2024 elections.
One of the seats the National Democratic Congress(NDC) ought to pay attention to has to do with the Techiman North seat currently being occupied by Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare.
In 2020 for instance, the NDC Presenting Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare won against the NPP’s Martin Oti Gyarko.
Mrs. Ofosu Agyare Pulled 23,252 representing
52.53% while NPP candidates in the person of Martin Oti Gyarko pulled 21,008
Representing 47.46%
What this meant is that the NDC won the seat with just 2244 votes.
Based on the dynamics in this constituency which the NPP is good at equally winning and our intel on grounds, it’s very likely the NDC may lose the seat with how Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare is conducting herself in the constituency.
Our preliminary findings in the Techiman North constituency point out that the incumbent MP Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare has become complacent ignoring her core mandate as an MP.
She seem to have this perception that because she’s is an NDC candidate, there is an assured victory for her in the 2024 polls.
But the dynamics of the very constituency she occupies does not warrant any lazy and unserious form of leadership.
This is a seat the NPP has equally won twice with Professor Ameyaw Akumfi and Martin Oti Gyarko respectively.
If Hon. Elizabeth Agyare is thinking she will have a smooth run in the park, then she would need to revise her books because the last election’s margin does not look good for her.
The grounds are calling for her defeat which would manifest in the 2024 elections if things remain the same.
Our finding is that, even if she manages to win the NDC internal elections by any form of machinations, the general elections would see her defeat.
Our Next Live Broadcast of With All Due Respect will throw more light on our findings in the Techiman North Constituency and how it’s a highly potential seat up for a toss up.
