Broadcast Journalist Kevin Taylor has thrown a challenge to musician turned politician, Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A Plus to prove he is not a hypocrite by joining calls for the impeachment of Carlos Ahenkorah for his despicable behavior in the Chamber of Parliament on 7th January 2021.
Carlos Ahenkorah who is the Member of Parliament for Tema West made the headlines for yet another bad reason when he snatched a ballot paper during the election of Speaker Alban Bagbin.
Months ago, at a time Ghana’s Coronavirus cases were on the surge and it was reported that Carlos Ahenkorah had contracted the novel virus, as a Deputy Minister as he was, he broke the “Stop the spread” protocol by going round his constituency to campaign and interact with people whom some believed contributed to the rise in numbers of the Coronavirus cases within Tema enclaves.
The “dishonorable” Ahenkorah who felt Professor Mike Aaron Oquaye; the choice of his New Patriotic Party as speaker was on the blink of defeat did the unthinkable by snatching some of the ballot papers during the counting of ballots and took to his heels, chewing two of those ballot papers before the remaining ones were retrieved by Honorable Muntaka Mubarak and his colleague determined NDC Parliamentarians.
This lawless conduct of Carlos Ahenkorah was to achieve one aim, which was to invalidate the election of Speaker Alban Bagbin who was the choice of the NDC.
Kevin Taylor however on his “With All Due Respect Extended Version” on Loud Silence Radio and Television said; he is compelled to call out A Plus to condemn Carlos Ahenkorah and join the voices calling for his impeachment because he learned Kwame A Plus is a constituent in Tema West.
Aside from being a constituent in the very constituency Carlos Ahenkorah as serving as an MP, Kevin says he believes the idea behind Kwame A Plus’s TPP (The People’s Project) was to keep reckless politicians like Carlos Ahenkorah in check, and this demand for the right things to be done at all times irrespective of whom it’s going to favor or against.
These is excerpts of what Mr. Taylor said:
“Kwame, I believe you a fantastic guy and I have so much respect for you and whatever you stand for, but you see if your movement is ever going to grow stronger where people like myself will not think you are doing that for your stomach, then irresponsible conducts like that of Carlos Ahenkorah in Parliament shouldn’t take days for you to condemn it in no certain terms.
You cannot claim to be the voice of the people, the voice of the people on the streets and in the ghetto, and go mute when lawless individuals like Carlos Ahenkorah denigrates our scared Parliament.
Truth is when a young man snatched a ballot box in Sene West, he is currently serving a jail term. This is why Carlos Ahenkorah should also be jailed because he is not a human as that guy in jail for doing the same thing Carlos has done.
What Carlos did if he is not impeached and imprisoned could cause serious problems for Ghana in the future because anyone can jump to parliament either shoot the speaker or shit on his desk and when he or she is held, the person will use Carlos Ahenkorah as an example, that he snatched a ballot paper which is criminal conduct but was spared because people like you A Plus refused to speak truth to power”
His call was not only directed at A Plus but other celebrities like Sarkodie, R2bees, Yaa Pono, Kwaw Kese etc who are all believed to be residents of Tema or grew up in the Tema enclave to be up and doing and call for the impeachment and arrest of Carlos Ahenkorah for what he did in Parliament if indeed they want the good of Ghana.
Kevin has however vowed that he will make life uncomfortable for his colleagues back home who are only vocal on issues of national interest if it is about a particular group or party but goes mute when it is about their kinsmen.
He admonished his friends in the field of journalism back home in Ghana and abroad and celebrities and other persons of influence in Ghana that no nation develops with hypocrites and sycophant and as such, even though he’s never against their choices to be members of a certain political party, they should be bold to call the spade the spade when necessary for they are what some Ghanaian youths look up to.
