● Some things are coming clear about leadership globally. For one thing, there aren’t many women world leaders, but they’re leading the coronavirus fight. For another thing, it’s not just Trump—the world’s ‘tough guy’ leaders are following his disastrous path. For instance, Brazil officially has 31,000 cases, but the reality could be 300,000 and growing.
● In the U.S., we’re seeing a major outbreak of woe-is-me-ism from the right. Conservative evangelical leaders got their whine on about what victims they are, because of course they did. After an armed protest in Michigan, Trump dangerously tweeted a call to violence, and more Trump supporters held a pro-death rally at the Minnesota governor’s home. Amid that, we need the media to be clear: armed pro-coronavirus protesters are not grassroots and they don’t reflect majority opinion.
