● Some things are coming clear about leadership globally. For one thing, there aren’t many women world leaders, but they’re leading the coronavirus fight. For another thing, it’s not just Trump—the world’s ‘tough guy’ leaders are following his disastrous path. For instance, Brazil officially has 31,000 cases, but the reality could be 300,000 and growing.
● In the U.S., we’re seeing a major outbreak of woe-is-me-ism from the right. Conservative evangelical leaders got their whine on about what victims they are, because of course they did. After an armed protest in Michigan, Trump dangerously tweeted a call to violence, and more Trump supporters held a pro-death rally at the Minnesota governor’s home. Amid that, we need the media to be clear: armed pro-coronavirus protesters are not grassroots and they don’t reflect majority opinion.
● That’s not the only area where the media needs to get over mindless, bogus, bothsiderism. Paging everyone who covers Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, here.
● New York City may be the coronavirus epicenter, but the largest cluster in the U.S. is the 644 cases associated with one South Dakota pork plant.
● Think sheltering in place is hard? Try doing it when you’re homeless in California.
● While some Americans receive stimulus checks, others report glitches and payments to wrong accounts.
● The House is inching toward a plan to keep members safe with proxy voting.
