Assin Central lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong has dared the current Acting Inspector General of Police to reopen investigations into the murder of J.B Danquah Adu.
On 9 February 2016, J.B Danquah Adu was stabbed to death in the early hours of the morning. Subsequently, the police arrested a man for the murder. The man, Daniel Asiedu, later confessed to killing the MP, in a struggle as he tried to rob him, and was charged with murder.
However, nothing can be said about the investigation several years after his own political party won power.
Speaking in an interview the Assin Central Member of Parliament noted that COP George Akuffo Dampare has all the needed information because he was at the scene when investigation into the murder of the MP was being undertaken.
He believes that he has all the needed information to prosecute the case and therefore dares him to open the case and ensure whoever is culpable is dealt with by the laws of Ghana.
I dare the Acting IGP to open the JB murder case because he promised me he was going to investigate it immediately he becomes an IGP. Now is the time for him to do what is right. He knows the names the guy mentioned when he was arrested.
I cannot go through this kind of nonsense. I’m not worried but my problem is that if such a good person can be killed, then what becomes of us. I’ve come to realize that the NPP only need power and not the welfare of its members,” he said
