US-based investigative journalist, Kevin Taylor has released some communications between the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu and the Public Procurement Authority.
The Special Prosecutor, was requesting for some information in relation to the award of contract to a private audit firm to perform audit on the travel accounts of the Auditor General, Mr. Yaw Domelevo and his deputies.
The PPA’s response to Martin Amidu at the time he was in office suggests breaches of the procurement laws by the Chairman of the Audit Service Board, Prof. Duah Agyemang as the Authority stated clearly that the Audit Service Board has requested for any approval in relations to the procurement of the private auditing firm for the performance of the said audit.
If you can recall, following President Akufo-Addo’s directive for Mr. Domelevo to proceed on leave, an action many prominent and Civil society organizations said as illegal, the Audit Service Board procured a private auditing firm to look into the expenses of the Auditor General which again is said to be illegal and out of the mandate of the audit service board.
