The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) says Monday’s power outages in some parts of Accra and Tema were as a result of a reported leakage of one of the processing plants of Ghana National Gas Company.

The situation, according to Ghana Gas, has led to the curtailing of gas supply to a number of thermal generating plants in the country.

A statement issued by GRIDCo on Tuesday, June 8 explained that the situation led to a number of gas-fired generating plants shutting down on Monday, June 7.

Consequently, this led to power outages in some parts of Greater Accra and Tema.

Repair works are currently ongoing by Ghana Gas to fix the situation.”

GRIDCo assured its customers of consistent power supply in the country by engaging all stakeholders in the power sector value chain.
